Breakout Session: Beyond the Buzzword - What Does It Really Mean to Be an Entrepreneurial University?
While many higher education institutions claim to be "entrepreneurial," the label is often reduced to startup incubators and patent pipelines. Yet authentic institutional entrepreneurship spans a wider spectrum - from venture creation and commercialization to co-innovating with established companies and driving corporate renewal.
In this interactive session, we open the floor to a candid debate on what "entrepreneurial" truly means across differing institutional profiles. Together, we will dissect the tensions between academic mandates and market needs, explore how to balance greenfield spin-offs with industry co-development, and identify practical ways to embed an entrepreneurial mindset across research, curricula, and regional business ecosystems.
Hosted by the University of Basel and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences.
